Writing
Children’s writing begins with mark making in the Nursery where they are given ample opportunity to use various writing materials. As their confidence and skills develop they are encouraged to write independently and for a variety of purposes. We teach pupils to use punctuation and grammar accurately, to be able to proof read their work and make improvement where they can. We value the development of correct letter formation and neatly presented handwriting. Examples of writing across all areas of the curriculum is displayed so children have a purpose for writing and value their work. Through our English curriculum, we aim to nurture in the pupils' love of reading books, develop their knowledge and use of new vocabulary so they become confident readers and writers.
