Speaking and Listening
Talking is fundamental to learning. Pupils at The Annunciation Catholic Infant School are encouraged to speak clearly, confidently and with expression in order to share their ideas and opinions.
We believe the skills of listening as just as important. Our pupils need to listen carefully to others and are encouraged to respond appropriately. All pupils are are given ample opportunities in all areas of the curriculum to develop their speaking and listening skills, in paired, group or whole class situations. Being an Infant school we use role play and drama as key elements of speaking and listening across the school.
We also appreciate the need for good model of both speaking and listening skills by teachers, assistants and visitors to the school.
