EYFS Curriculum Intent

In the Early Years Foundation Stage at The Annunciation Catholic Infant School we offer a language rich curriculum with the aim that our pupils become skilful communicators.

As a result, our curriculum is designed to reinforce the basic skills our children require, while offering rich and engaging experiences. The objectives for each area for learning is sequenced to reinforce learning and to allow children to see connections and links in order to build understanding and make sense.

It is our intent that all children develop physically, verbally, cognitively and emotionally in an environment which values all cultures, communities and people.

We recognise the crucial role early years education has to play in providing firm foundations upon which the rest of a child’s education is successfully based.

Children in our Nursery and Reception classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework. They learn by playing, exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outdoors.
The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) sets out the learning and development stages for children as they grow from birth to five years.  The EYFS outlines what all Early Years providers (including our school) need to do to support your child.
What to expect in EYFS?
The purpose of this booklet is to help you as a parent/carer find out more about how your child is learning and developing during their first five years, in relation to the EYFS.

Children develop more rapidly during the first five years of their lives than at any other time. This booklet has been written to help you as a parent know what to expect during these vitally important years by focusing on the seven areas of learning and development which are covered in the EYFS.

There are some examples of some ideas and tips as to how you can help your child’s learning and development.
